SRI LANKAN MUSLIMS CONDEMN ATTACK ON SIR DAVID AMESS

Right Honourable Boris Johnson,
British Prime Minister,
Prime Minister’s Office,
No. 10 Downing Street,
London

Dear Prime Minister,

SRI LANKAN MUSLIMS CONDEMN ATTACK ON SIR DAVID AMESS

Members of the World Forum of Sri Lankan Muslims, unreservedly condemn the stabbing of Southend West constituency Sir David Amess, without rhyme or reason allegedly by a Somali terrorist, as an act of terrorism not to be condoned at all.

It is very saddening that this comes in the wake of the New Zealand stabbing in a Supermarket, of innocent people, by a Sri Lankan terrorist under surveillance and the Rotterdam bow and arrow attack last week. You will be comforted to know that the large majority of the Muslim Community who have migrated or sought refuge in the United Kingdom, including the Sri Lankans of whatever faith do not contribute to any form of terrorism in this country or elsewhere. We are nevertheless a vigilant community and please be assured that the Sri Lankan community will cooperate with the authorities whenever we are consulted. The World Forum of Sri Lankans are ever prepared to be part of the system at any time.

While condemning and expressing the revulsion of such an act, not only of the whole Sri Lankan community but of the whole Muslim community in the world over, The World Muslim Forum of Sri Lankan Muslims offer our sincere condolences to the family of Sir David Amess and if it would be of any consolation will offer prayers for his soul to rest in peace.

We conclude with a citation from Theholy Qur’an, which absolutely forbids such wanton killing in Chapter 5 verse 32 in uncertain terms as “[whoever kills a soul unless for a soul or for corruption in the land – it is as if he had slain mankind entirely, and whoever saves one – it is as if he had saved mankind entirely”

We remain assuring you of our cooperation at all times.,

Yours sincerely,

Capt. A.G.A.Barrie, P Eng., BSc (Eng. Hons).

Chairman
